Bexley Mencap's Marathon Man!

We are over the moon with the news that Alan Cousins is running in the London Marathon this year to raise much
needed funds for Bexley Mencap in its never ending work on behalf of people with learning disability and their carers.
This is Alan’s second marathon; he ran in the London last year and achieved a very creditable time of 4 hours, 35 seconds. He will become a sub-four hour marathon runner if he can chop another 36 seconds off this year’s time. So let’s keep our fingers crossed for him. He has also run 10 kilometres in 50 minutes; another creditable performance, equating to 8 minute miles. Alan, a very youthful 50-year old, is an engaging character and lives quite close, in Woodside Road, Sidcup. He runs his own roofing company and is married to Claire. They have four children and a grand daughter, Mia.  His other interests are golf and fishing. He stresses that he doesn't do these two activities at the same time, although with all the rain we've been having, we’re minded to ask him why not!
So please do help to reward Alan’s efforts on our behalf by sponsoring him as generously as you can. It would also be marvellous if members and supporters turn out to watch Alan, and another 30-40,000 runners, many in a variety of fancy dresses, pounding the London streets on behalf of numerous charities.
