Family Support

“Supporting families since 1971”

Being a carer for someone with a learning disability can be hard but we are here to help. Our experienced team are dedicated to providing support for the specific needs of somebody who cares for a person with a learning disability.

We aim to improve the health and wellbeing of carers, increasing awareness of local services and sources of support and making it easier for people to access the support that they need at the time they need it most.

We can provide advice, information and practical support on a range of subjects, such as help filling out forms, making sure that you’re receiving things that you are eligible for or just provide a listening ear and somebody to talk to. Some of the topics that we can support with are:

  • Health and social care
  • Housing
  • Welfare and benefits
  • Leisure and social activities
  • Health and wellbeing

We also have 2 groups which meet regularly; Carers Coffee and yoga and relaxation which both run on zoom.  Please visit our groups page for more information

We also support Carers United, which is a support group for parents and carers of people with a learning disability.  They meet on the second Monday of each month to talk about things which are important to them, take time to support each other and work to improve services for carers and people that they care for.  To find out more please contact us.
